On education PWHE believes that with opportunity towards quality education for the pastoralist children, they can excel and compete among the larger community of Kenyan society. PWHE has supported vulnerable children from Primary to college level. Some of the supported orphans are now in meaningful gains. PWHE rescued a girl from early marriage; and with support from ActionAid, she completed her secondary school and currently teaching at Early Childhood development centre initiated by Pastoralist Women for Health and Education. PWHE through support of ActionAid was able to conduct budget tracking activities through trained social auditors and formed oversight committees in Merti district to monitor the development work on issues of water, health and education. Through girl child education campaign, PWHE has managed to train parents, teachers and pupils in primary school on the need to curb absenteeism by girls due to menstruation and later supported the use of sanitary pads as a coping mechanism. Through this training parents accepted to purchase sanitary pads for their primary school going girls, this has helped in retention of girls in school. PWHE collaborates with seven primary school peace clubs and two secondary in Isiolo County. PWHE supported over 1270 orphans and vulnerable children through APHIA Plus Imaarisha programme. The PWHE office has already been constructed hence saving on rent.
